Sony has yet to offer any clarification on the matter, but Bethesda concludes that it remains hopeful to bring mods support to PS4 if Sony ever changes its stance. “After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.” The PS4 was originally supposed to get support in June, but it’s clear now that won’t be happening at all.īethesda writes in a post on their website: Fallout 4 modding tools were released for the PC in April, with the Xbox One version following in late May. “Our goal was to make mods easier and more accessible than ever before, for both the creators and the players,” the developer has previously said. This would be a very rare case for console games, but Bethesda has long been known for its support of user mods in its games, allowing players to create and share new content, environment rules, and ways of play that can significantly add to the life of a game. Hopefully a player who does can drop by and give some suggestions. When the highly acclaimed Fallout 4 was released last fall, it was announced that user mods would not only be available on the PC version, but on Xbox One and PS4 as well. I cannot give any suggestions for other mods worth checking out on the Playstation as while I do have the console, I play Skyrim on the PC. This is a must for any player as it fixes a lot of problems large and small. USSEP is downloadable and present on the mod browser for PS4 users as it does not use custom assets. Xbox players do not have this limitation though they have a cap on the amount of storage mods can use.
This means mods which add weapons, armors, quests, houses etc that use custom textures, meshes, sounds, and the like are not supported on the PS4. Effectively this means PS4 players can only use mods that were created entirely within the Creation Kit using vanilla assets.
Due to the way the PS4 handles mods, any mods outside of creation club releases cannot use external assets. AFAIK I don't believe the creator of IW/IA has uploaded either to the Beth mod browser nor is he a modder who has contributed to the creation club.Įven if he did, it would not be for PS4 users.
